We have read official news stories and opinions from the self-appointed pundits. However, I wondered how the Greek people truly felt on the night of their historic EU vote. To be sure, there is suffering by some who have been negatively impacted economically. However, my daughters’ first person on the ground narrative shared a different story of the palpable spirit of courage among the Greek people.
On the evening of July 5th 2015, my fearless daughters, Dr. Alexis Marianes and Presvytera Eliana Marianes Lundberg, stood in Syntagma square in Athens, Greece right after the OXI vote results were announced. They wanted to absorb the enormity of this incredible moment in the history of Greece. Click here for their first person account of what the Greeks in the public square were feeling:
Courage is Contagious – July 5, 2015.
They also heard the powerful words from fellow international travelers from France and Spain who again marveled at the leadership of the Greek people. Their future may be uncertain, but their resolve and contagious courage is uniquely Greek.
